Aycliffe Special. The first half of a F1 and F2 meeting from 1985, a F2 meeting from 1985, F1 and F2 finals from 1987 and a F2 heat from 1985 at Hartlepool as a bit of a bonus! The tightness of the bends and the long straights at Aycliffe made it a top track for F1 and F2 action, and this is in full evidence here. The F1s never quite look like they will make the corners (often don't!). For the 1985 F1s, Peter Falding has awful luck, there's a great race between Mike Close and Richard Ainsworth, Buster Watson always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and Dave Berrisford avoids the carnage to claim a superb Consolation win... Action all round from the F2s in both 1985 programmes - the Skoal Bandits are the force to be reckoned with (can anyone tell me what Trevor Jones had done to upset them???) and Jimmy Moodie puts up a great fight. There are interviews with Jimmy Moodie, Paul Broach, John Toulson and Dave Berrisford. During F2 Heat 1 there is one lap missing, as this meeting was split over two VHS tapes. The 1987 F2 final
develops into a
fantastic race between Jimmy Wallace and Russell Taylor, hits being
exchanged at
every corner and the lead changing over and over again. In the F1s, a
cloudburst
has flooded the track and Ray Tyldsley drives a fantastic race while
everyone
around him is losing it. Following this, there's an interview with No.
85...
The F2 race from Hartlepool is utter carnage! It's good to see the Bandits losing out on their home track and not so good to see Gordon McDougall destroying his suspension under waved yellows... The DVD runs for 1 hour 50 minutes and costs just £6... |
